When she ordered the design of her new home, her main request was that natural light would predominate in all the spaces. She wanted to keep the aesthetics of a typical town in terms of the street façade, moreover she was interested in incorporating a big backyard next to the all-in-one area kitchen, living room and dining room, another typical element of the Majorcan house.
To make her dreams come true, we designed a two-story house where all the functionality turned around a double space. From the very access to the house we can see the upper floor, where the bedrooms and an open studio are, the latter facing the backyard. Thanks to the big opening in the facade, there is a lot of daylight coming in. A metallic light staircase, with wooden steps was placed at the lateral of this double space. A walkway was positioned in the empty space and serves as a guide to the different rooms.
On the ground floor, there is a big living space, which surrounds the backyard, connected diagonally with the kitchen-dining room. The backyard can be seen thanks to the big openings framed with wood. A typical backyard, with an orange tree in the middle, has the role of a living and dining room in summer. There is a further porch, directly connected to the kitchen, which brings shadow and freshness.
The finish of the materials is very plain and clean. The white makes a contrast with the wood and a bright ceramic floor makes it look as if it were a carpet. The modern lines of the interior stand in contrast with the wooden beams that are in the kitchen.
